Mark Lopez Shares Lessons of Character and Cultural Respect
with Houston-Area Students
On Tuesday, May 6, U.S. Olympic Team
member Mark Lopez of Sugar Land, Texas, shared his
personal story and taught local kids the importance of acceptance,
character and thoughtfulness as part of The Hilton Family of Hotels'
eight-city nationwide education tour. Second-grade students of
Pilgrim Elementary in Houston joined Lopez for a reading of a new
children's book inspired by Olympic ideals.
The Hilton Family of
Hotels proudly welcomes Steven, Mark and Diana Lopez to its family
of esteemed U.S. Olympic hopefuls for the 2008 Olympic Games. Dubbed
“the first family” of taekwondo, the Lopez family made sports
history in 2005, by becoming the first trio of siblings to win world
championships in the same sport in the same year. Finding great
strengths and inspirations within each other, this dynamic trio
hopes to become the first family since 1904 to have three siblings
compete for the same U.S. Olympic Team in the same sport.
